I certified in Internal Medicine in 1999 & refuse to hand over any more money to the ABIM for the reasons the NBPAS came into being. I’m proud & happy to support Dr. Teirstein & his colleagues in his efforts. I just received my certification overseas, where I practice as an expatriate physician. For the record, I had my own Private Practice that I left to relocate overseas, because of the frustration & disgust at what I saw while working on my own. In my 20 years in the States, I practiced in almost every setting you could imagine & found out that it’s all about the money. Please remind yourselves why you entered your field & grow a backbone. Stop letting non physicians & the people at ABIM, who purport to have your best interests, telling you what to do.
