Apply for NBOPAS Certification

The NBOPAS is committed to providing value. Similar to the challenges faced in modern medicine, we strive to provide high quality at the lowest possible cost. The $189 fee covers a two year certification ($94.50/year) including all your specialties. The fee will be adjusted up or down in future years, determined by our expenses. Physicians in or within 2 years of training qualify for a reduced rate of $49 for a two year certification ($24.50/year). We must add $20 to all applications from DOs because the AOA charges a $20 fee per physician for certification verification. Renewal NBOPAS certification is $165. We respect physicians’ time, this application requires less than 15 minutes to complete.

Note: To complete the application you will need to have your medical license number, your NPI number and evidence (CME certificates or transcripts from the CME provider) of 50 hours of continuing medical education within the past 24 months (100 hours for re-entry). Either AMA PRA Category 1 or AOA Category 1A/2A CME is acceptable (AOA Category 1B or 2B are not acceptable). CME requirement is waived for physicians – in-or within 24 months of training who supply either a letter from their program director or copy of their program diploma indicating date of training within 24 months. Previous certification by an AOA member board is required (we will verify this independently, no need to supply evidence).
